The Firm’s tax practice involves all aspects of federal, state and local taxation. We also prepare income tax returns for the Qualified Settlement Funds (468B entities) that we serve as Claims Administrator or Escrow Agent.
The rest of our tax practice is largely transaction-oriented—and we advise corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, estates, trusts, tax-exempt organizations and individuals in a variety of tax-related matters.
We represent clients in administrative and judicial tax controversies at the federal, state and local levels, including the United States Tax Court. We represented the State of Alabama Senate in revising the State’s franchise tax law in 1999, after the Supreme Court of the United States declared it unconstitutional, and we helped the Governor of Alabama, the Alabama Finance Department and the Alabama Department of Revenue draft and pass income tax reform legislation in 2001 raising $160 MM in additional revenues.
